Hoses and cables for reels

Choose the hose/cable construction or find its part number from the markings. Check diameters, connections and operating conditions on the corresponding product page.

Low temperature. R18 and CPLT5000 are listed down to −55 °C. Check the range for the selected part number, for both the fluid and working environment.

Quadruple assembly. The TU4 selection shown corresponds to R7 in 3/8″ at 160 bar. Do not confuse this profile with two twin hoses or four separate hoses: identify the construction fitted to the reel.

For an installation subject to marine classification, provide the documentation requirement. The ABS approval listed for part number 462 must be checked for the requested supply.

Hybrid cablesCircuits depending on part numberServomotor, multi-conductor or bus depending on part number

Protective conductor. Check the presence and identification of an earth conductor for the cable part number, even when it is a power cable.

Permissible loads. The breaking load of a vertical cable is not an operating or pulling load. Have the limits of the cable, its mounting and the cable pulling grip confirmed.

For a hybrid cable, specify the protocol and circuits to transmit. The hybrid cable chart distinguishes servomotor, multi-conductor, CANbus and Profinet configurations: do not transfer specifications from one cable type to another.

Before selecting

Compatibility checks

Permissible pressure of the assembly

Check the permissible hose pressure at the selected diameter, as well as that of the reel and its connections.

The equipped configuration must comply with the limit of each component. A pressure option on the reel does not increase the hose rating.

Bend radius determines what can be wound

A reel bends the hose continuously, and a hose cannot be wound tighter than its minimum radius. A 4SP in 3/4″ requires a 300 mm radius, hence a drum with a winding diameter of at least 600 mm.

Compare the minimum radius of the exact construction: listed values for a 1/4″ B1 and a 1SN are 30 and 100 mm respectively. Nominal diameter alone is not enough to check compatibility with the drum and guides.

Permissible cable power when wound and unwound

Consult the values for the part number in wound and unwound states. The 700 series lists several pairs of power ratings: no single ratio applies to all reels.

Guidance and protection

Accessories that protect the hose/cable assembly

Accessories are chosen according to routing and the hose/cable assembly. Their combination and position depend on the installation:

Check the bend radius around the pulley and the groove width for the assembly. Use the guide’s usable dimensions and the limits of the selected hose.

What to send for a quotation

  • For a replacement: full part number, photograph of the nameplate and views of the existing installation.
  • Internal diameter, length and number of lines.
  • Working pressure, pressure peaks and relief-valve setting where known.
  • Minimum temperature at the workplace, not just fluid temperature.
  • Available bend radius at the guide.
  • For cable: voltage, current, number of conductors, whether an identified earth conductor is required.
  • Standard or stainless-steel connection, and any classification requirement.

Quotations and technical advice on request.
