Identify the hose for your reel

R7, R8, B1, B2, T2… To replace a hose, note its marking and the reel’s part number. The same internal diameter guarantees neither the same permissible pressure nor the same winding behaviour.

Four checks for a replacement

Marking and dimensions

Photograph the hose code. Note internal diameter, external diameter, length and fitting type; do not choose a fitting based on internal diameter alone.

Pressure and fluid

State the fluid and operating pressure. The permissible limit depends on the complete reel, hose and fittings and on the operating conditions.

Bending and guidance

Check the hose’s minimum bend radius against the drum and pulleys. A higher permissible pressure does not mean that the hose suits the same reel.

Temperature and environment

Specify ambient and fluid temperatures, exposure and special requirements. Check these values for the selected construction and diameter.

Single, twin, multiple lines or integrated cable

Four lines does not specify one particular hose assembly. Depending on the reel family, this may mean two twin-hose assemblies or separate hoses. When replacing the hose assembly, retain the layout specified for the part number.

Same diameter, different specifications

In the table for TU2, 1/4-inch twin hoses, the catalogue states 210 bar for R7 and 350 bar for R8. These values apply to the specific table rows, not to all diameters or configurations.

Before substitution, also check external dimensions, bend radius, windable length and connections. Having the complete assembly validated avoids selecting a hose based solely on its pressure rating.

Compare two hoses using the complete catalogue row

The TU1 to TU4 tables provide more than pressure ratings. They also help verify that the proposed hose suits the existing drum, guidance and hose assembly.

Hoses and cable: also photograph their layout

The catalogue distinguishes assemblies with a central cable, a side cable and a central version with the cable inserted in a tube. Simply stating “two hoses and one cable” is therefore not sufficient to order the correct replacement.

Photograph the assembly from the front and side without dismantling it. State the number of hoses, their construction, cable markings, conductor count and cross-section, if known. Check the layout for the exact part number; it cannot be inferred from the number of lines alone.

Frequently asked questions about hose replacement

Are R7 and R8 interchangeable?

Not based on the code or diameter alone. The example above compares their pressure for TU2 1/4-inch hoses; external diameter, bend radius, fittings and windable length must also be checked for the equipment concerned.

Can a twin hose be replaced by two single hoses?

This substitution must not be assumed equivalent. The hose assembly layout and guidance are part of the reel’s configuration. Provide the part number and photographs before choosing a different arrangement.

Should I order the usable length or the total length?

These are different specifications in reel tables. Provide the part number, required travel and known length, stating what it measures, rather than inferring hose length from the machine’s travel alone.

The marking has worn off: can the hose assembly still be identified?

Start with the reel’s serial number, then provide views of the hose assembly and connections. Add the available information about the machine and the required duty; construction will not be determined from colour alone.

Need to replace a hose or hose assembly?

Send the reel’s part number, a photograph of the hose marking and fittings, and the known length and specifications. For an assembly, specify its layout: single hose, twin hose, multiple lines or integrated cable. We will clarify any additional checks with you.
