Four-hose reels

Replacing a reel or equipping a machine? Compare A4, S4 and M4 : two twin hoses, four separate hoses or two independent movements.

ApproachFamilyWhen it is needed
Two twin hoses on one drumEnrouleur hydraulique Demac A4 Standard à quatre tuyaux, deux faisceaux jumelésA4 Standard, A4 CompactStandard requirement. All four lines move together, with identical diameters in each pair.
Four separate hosesEnrouleur hydraulique Demac S4 à quatre tuyaux séparésS4Different diameters or pressures between lines, or replacement of individual lines.
Two twin hoses on two springsEnrouleur hydraulique Demac M4 à quatre voies et deux ressorts indépendantsM4Two components that do not move at the same time.
Independent movements

The M4, when two components move separately

Consider the M4 when the hose assemblies need to follow independent movements. Record the travel distances, their directions and mounting constraints to check the configuration.

The catalogue describes the M4 as having two independent external springs. This distinction must be retained when comparing it with the A4 or S4; it is not sufficient to validate the travel and mounting of a replacement part number.

Before selecting

Points to check before substitution

Identify the hose arrangement. Distinguish two twin hoses, four separate hoses and a quadruple profile. Compare the construction fitted to the machine, the diameters and the guides; four lines alone do not define an interchangeable configuration.

For a four-line requirement in 1/2″, compare the A4.12 and the S4. If an electrical line is also required, see the A4/E. Check the available diameters for the exact part number.

Check the complete replacement. Compare flange diameter, width, weight, hole centres and connections. Do not infer these dimensions from a two-line family or a photograph.

What to send for a quotation

  • For a replacement: full part number, photograph of the nameplate and views of the existing installation.
  • The four circuits: diameter, flow rate, pressure — and whether they move together.
  • Whether one line can remain fixed.
  • Usable length of each hose assembly, available space and mounting hole centres.
  • Connection direction and mounting position.
